Also known as the Curly horse, American Bashkir Curly, and the North American Curly Horse, Bashkir Curlies are a type of horse with a specific gene that leads to them having a unique coat of curly hair instead of a flowing mane. They even have curly hair inside their ears!

History

The unique gene that gives Curlies their distinct hair can come in many different forms, including “minimally,” “maximally,” and “extremely,” all of which affect different hair on the horse’s body. For example, a horse that’s classified as “maximally” would have curly eyelashes alongside the curly mane and tail. These horses are also claimed to be the only hypoallergenic breed!
