In 1847, Reading and Philadelphia were the first to operate 4-6-0 wheel arrangement locomotives across North America. These ten-wheelers were exceptionally stable locomotives and could pull light passenger cars at high speeds of the time on straight-level rails. This Bachmann's N scale Baltimore & Ohio #147, Thatcher Perkins, with Coal Load, pays tribute to these 19th Century 4-6-0 workhorses.
