The Russian Navy has 16 Akula class nuclear powered submarines. A number of Akula class submarines are deployed in the Pacific region. It is the quietest Russian nuclear submarine had ever built. All Akulas are armed with 533 mm torpedo tubes which can use Type 53 torpedoes and 650 mm torpedo tubes which can use Type 65 torpedoes. They can also be used to launch cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles as well as mines. The 650 mm tubes can be fitted with liners to provide additional 533 mm weapon launch capacity.
